SPECIAL NOTE: THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT. PLEASE WATCH FOR FUTURE EVENTS AT THE FREIGHT HOUSE!

While representing Kentucky on Bravo’s Top Chef culinary competition stage for the second time, chef Sara Bradley is welcoming a fellow season 20 World All-Stars cheftestant to her Paducah restaurant, freight house, for a one-of-a-kind dinner experience on May 31. Chef Ali Ghzawi, the 2019 winner of Top Chef Middle East & North Africa, will curate a menu with Bradley celebrating how all cultures tell stories through food. Tickets for the multi-course celebration go on sale at 10 a.m. May 11.

“Paducah is celebrating its tenth anniversary of being a UNESCO-designated Creative City, and what a better way to celebrate that milestone than to welcome chef Ali to share his heritage with us?” Bradley said. “I loved cooking with Ali on the show and I’m excited to host him at freight house.” This is the first dinner in a year-long series Bradley is hosting at freight house that will feature chefs from all over the world.

Ghzawi is the chef and owner of Alee, an upscale Middle Eastern restaurant in Jordan that reflects the culture, background and roots of Jordan and the Middle East. For the dinner, Bradley and Ghzawi are collaborating on a menu that will bring their culinary styles together — expect numerous courses that showcase traditional Middle Eastern and American Southern dishes in unique ways along with dishes from their Top Chef repertoires. The dinner will feature wine pairings and cocktails from Beverage Director Jake Harris. Guests will also receive one of Ghzawi’s custom spice blends to take home.

Bradley learned to cook from her mother and grandmother, and credits them — and their Appalachian upbringing and Jewish heritage — with heavily influencing her food philosophy. Her passion for food goes back to her early years, much like Ghzawi’s. In high school, he would make 150 sandwiches a day and sell them to everyone on campus. Both went on to cook in Michelin-starred kitchens before returning home to open their own restaurants.

While their styles may seem different, the two chefs share their passion for cooking, storytelling, sustainability, and for improving workplace culture in the restaurant industry. Dinner guests are sure to enjoy great food and great stories at this event.
